Get the fucking smoke out of my face
While I snap my fingers and try to find my pace.
Last night, a fairy went out my back door.
She spread out her words with magic and folk lore.
Then the sun came up,
but I wasn't listening.
The snow came falling
and the slush started glistening.
Feds poked their dead eyes around my window pane.
It's the days where you sing peace
until the badge detains
your sorry ass for keeping your heart with humanity.
For getting borders in gold until you forget your sanity.
They told me one day the colors will change
and our society will accept both normal and strange.
Just like the kids in China,
they're gonna make a scene.
And all of Earth will be in constant state of serene.
But have they ever sneaked cigarettes outside of Heaven's gate? Have they ever tried to snatch God's reign and pissed on fate?
That's what I'll remember- when I'm choking out the state.
So get the fucking smoke back in my face.
So I could pretend there was ever a time to sing Amazing Grace.

Coming from Scranton and taking each day as it comes, Ayla is a wonderful poet and this is one of her videos I've seen of spoken word. Poetry hits the spot for me and so to see this, it's an honor. Ayla is a fantastic soul and I have met her before.
This video was taken May of 2014 so hopefully we will be seeing more of her spoken and written work.
Art on, folks!
